DAKOTA PARK Bio

DAKOTA PARK is an alt/country duo led by singer/songwriter, Josh Sinclair (formerly of Little Mojo & Hollywood Burnout).  Some of Josh's past credits include multiple song placements in film & television, various national tours, as well as signing 3 different record deals including a developmental deal with Universal Motown.  With his latest project, Josh is pioneering his own brand of country music complete with funny, honest, and sometimes gritty songwriting.  Recently, Josh has begun to incorporate on-the-spot looping into a handful of songs which has elevated his live show to include even greater dynamics that he likes to label as "country music on drugs."

DAKOTA PARK has shared the stage with countless national acts over the past 2 years including Trailer Choir, Billy Dean, Jared Blake, Carolina Liar, Blind Melon, The BoDeans, performances @ SXSW, and more. Their style is comparable with groups such as Thompson Square, The Cadillac 3, American Bang, The Band Perry, & Trailer Choir (in reference to their often humorous songs).

Discography
"Midol & Whiskey" released in 2012
"You Ain't Perfect" released in 2014

"Lipstick" (single) released late 2014

"The American Dream" coming mid-2015

DAKOTA PARK was formed hot on the heals of Josh's other fairly successful band, Hollywood Burnout (which Josh was the frontman and wrote 95% of their songs).  They sold over 20,000 records, toured the country numerous times, signed multiple record deals and had over 10 of their songs featured on MTV, highlighted with a nationally televised performance on the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon in 2010). But once Hollywood Burnout was released from their last record contract with Dreammaker Records in 2011, Josh decided to focus on a new direction and started writing songs with more of an "country" flavor. Thus, DAKOTA PARK was born.

During their live performances, they tend to feature their originals but also mix in a few cover songs. Their infectious songs often reference the funnier things within a relationship such as their debut album title would suggest. Their song, "Livin' The Dream/CUB's Win!," from their first album has been played during all home games the past 2 years for the Chicago Cubs affiliates AAA-Iowa Cubs & AA-Tennessee Smokies, as well as in regular rotation during WGN broadcasts of Chicago Cubs games.

Performing alongside him for the majority of shows is his wife, Josie Ann. Although they've only been a band for just under 3 years, their story goes back over 10 years...

*Backstory:
Having met each other by chance back in 2003; Josh was friends with Josie's sister and the two were introduced. Years passed and they kept in touch; Josh was busy touring with his earlier bands (Little Mojo and Hollywood Burnout) and Josie was the front desk clerk at the Marriott and eventual lounge manager. They would constantly run into one another around their hometown of Des Moines, Iowa and they would always show each other their latest tattoos and share some drinks and stories together. Although Josh has his fair share of ink, Josie is the tattoo queen, having won awards for her amazing body artwork at tattoo conventions around the Midwest.

*Falling in love:
It wasn't until 2008 that they began dating and eventually fell head over heels in love, tying the knot in 2013. Josh even penned a song for the occasion entitled "You Ain't Perfect," which became the title-track of their summer 2014 release and totally encompasses the way they are together…"you ain't perfect, but you're perfect for me."

*The BAND:
The couple had always toyed with the idea of performing together and decided to make it a reality in late 2011. They started out playing mostly smaller venues, brew-pubs, as well as fairs and music festivals. As Dakota Park continued to progress, it was none more evident than in the growth of their songwriting and at their performances.

*The new EP: "YOU AIN'T PERFECT" (released Summer 2014):
Affectionately labeled "relationship rock," DAKOTA PARK lives up to that description with their latest EP entitled, "You Ain't Perfect." The album features 5 brand new songs, all written by the duo, in which they rarely mince words when describing their relationship. They pick up where they left off from their debut release ("Midol & Whiskey"), and have taken their quirky and honest songwriting to a new level with this EP. Their "2-pea's-in-a-pod" kind of relationship is perfectly defined in one of their new songs entitled, "Just You & Me," as it combines two of their favorite things: getting tattoos and summertime.
